RORO Travel Batangas - Calapan - Roxas - Caticlan (Makati - Antique) and Vice Versa | RATES and ROUTES
I was hit by a very strong sense of filial piety to go home and celebrate Christmas and New Year with Super T's Lola Nay and Lolo Tay a week before Christmas. The strong urge might be partly due to the fact that of all four siblings, I am the only one currently living close to them here in the Philippines, since one is on a ship probably floating somewhere in the Atlantic, and two are in Dubai.
Regardless, I couldn't bear imagining Lola Nay and Lolo Tay celebrating Christmas and New Year by themselves, just the two of them at home. Since the decision to go home was confirmed last minute, plane tickets were at rocket high prices by then.
So when Daddy A agreed to travel home by car to Antique, I ignored the approaching typhoon and planned to travel ahead of its landfall (which we unfortunately did not get ahead of), and then jumped on the chance and did all the research on rates and routes for three shipping lines (Fastcat, Montenegro, Starlite) servicing the Batangas - Calapan - Roxas - Caticlan route.
This route is quite attractive for those who are keen to go on a road trip and have enough time for side trips since Calapan is the gateway to Puerto Galera Beach in Mindoro, and as you probably know, Caticlan is Boracay Island's gateway port.
We have tried the Batanggas - Caticlan (2go) route the previous year, but it was much too expensive for our budget. Hence we tried this cheaper (but longer) route instead.
Roro travel is substantially cheaper (albeit longer and more tiring for the driver) than plane travel even at peak seasons like the Christmas and New Year season.

What's nice with Fastcat is that you can book and pay for tickets in advance from their website. Some of the payment methods accepted are by credit card and paypal. I used my credit card to pay for my booking and they sent a confirmation email and itinerary to my email.

Since trips were regulated by the PPA during our travel, we ended up sailing with Super Shuttle, their ferry was a bit smaller and older compared to Montenegro or Starlite, but hey, still thankful the ship was able to get us to Caticlan in one piece.
Another Route would be through Bulalacao Port which is where Fastcat Ferries operate to Caticlan. This port is a little over an hour south of Roxas Port.

From Caticlan, its only a little over 2 hours to San Jose, Antique. Antique has a lot of tourist destinations to offer to those who want to experience the roads less travelled, forget the hustle and bustle of the city life, and get in touch with nature. You could drop by Malumpati Spring Resort in Pandan, Malalison Island in Culasi, and try the Kawa Hot Bath and Fish Spa in Tibiao. Explore the hidden beauty of Antique's countryside and be amazed.

Hello po. Sa case po namin we brought an SUV and nasa Php8500 ung charge nila for it. Free na ung driver with that. Ung passengers na lng ung kelangan bumili ng individual tickets nila.

Di sya nagtatrabaho sa mga kumpanya na yan para tanungin niyo kung magkano pamasahe ng specific niyong sasakyan papunta kung saan man. Masyadong katamaran na yung pati pagcocompute ng gagastusin niyo balikan eh sa blogger nyo pa ipapagawa na pwede niyo naman mismo gawin kasi nakalagay naman yung rates ng iba.
